I draw from my extensive clinical experience working across various settings (e.g, universities, private and public hospitals, community mental health, community health services, schools, and not-for-profit organisations) with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups on a range of mental health presentations. I am also a board-approved clinical supervisor.
While my special interests are trauma/post traumatic stress disorder and relationship issues; I also assist clients with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, personality issues (e.g, BPD), OCD, adjustment difficulties, chronic pain, adult ADHD, addictions, eating disorders, life transitions and LGBTIQ issues. I also work with children with selective mutism, learning difficulties, ADHD, and behaviour issues.
I am eclectic in my approach; and I have been trained in a range of evidence-based/gold-standard treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) across the lifespan, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), DBT, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Regulation (EMDR), Prolonged exposure for PTSD, Schema therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and I use Gottman’s Method and a systems approach for my couples and family work. I believe in the importance of establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients and I am genuinely curious and respectful of my client’s context, inner strivings and strengths. I also work collaboratively with clients to ensure that treatment is customised to their specific needs while guided by sound clinical assessment and outcome goals. I also strongly believe in strengthening my clients’ motivation, personal strengths and social support, to successfully achieve change.
My clients enjoy working with me and I have been described as empathetic, warm, good humoured, skilled, insightful and supportive.
