In order to see Dr Isabel Fernandez, or any member of the team, you are not required to obtain a referral unless you want to claim through the Medicare Better Access initiative.
Referrals can be obtained from your General Practitioner or a Psychiatrist. Under Medicare [a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan] services are limited to a maximum of 10 individual sessions per client per calendar year, with a review by the referring doctor required after the initial six sessions. Please remember to bring your referral letter with you to your first consultation to enable us to process your medicare rebate if applicable. Similarly, we require your GP's review paperwork following your sixth session.
Many clients will continue with therapy beyond the 10 sessions per calendar year covered by Medicare. Some may choose to use their private health cover from then on. Please check with your private health fund to determine rebate.
