Dr Kathleen Camacho
Registered Psychologist
BSc(Psych)(Hons), PhD
Kathleen is a registered psychologist who works with adolescents and adults. Her approach and therapy style is summarised below:
I am passionate about tailoring therapy to each person’s unique experience. My curiosity about adapting psychological treatment for each person led me to complete a PhD in psychological science. My therapeutic approach draws on a range of evidence-based modalities, including:
-
Psychoeducation
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, including trauma-focused CBT)
-
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Motivational Interviewing, and
-
Internal Family Systems.
Regardless of the approach, my work is always grounded in warmth, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard.
I have supported individuals and their support networks through difficult times. I have worked with many clients with complex needs, including neurodiversity, trauma histories, and high-risk behaviours. While I’ve enjoyed working with a diverse range of clients, I feel especially drawn to supporting adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, identify as neurodiverse, or are navigating mood or personality disorders.
